Description.
Figure of hard stone, possibly "鸡血石" (Jīxuèshí). This type of stone has reddish veins due to a concentration of cinnabar. It is mainly used for handcrafted carvings and seals. The sculpture depicts a Chinese sage, with Buddha-like features, dressed in an open robe decorated with cloud patterns. Parts such as the face, hair and decoration of the robe are engraved in detail. The pedestal that holds the figure is made of several pieces of hard stone, dark in tone with brown veins. The decoration of the pedestal has "shou" emblems, dragons and waves with an auspicious meaning next to the figure. There are restorations and faults due to the antiquity.
Total size: 28,5 x 7 x 11 cm
