Abstract marble sculpture, ca.1970

Awarded For. -
Lot 440.
Description.

Gray sarrancolin marble. Elongated rectangular sculpture with several faces that stands out for having an irregular surface that simulates waves. The shape has a natural movement but the central empty space, with an arrow that crosses it up to three quarters, induces fixation of the gaze on this point, as if it were a peephole. Through this space you can observe what is coming with another perspective. No signatures are seen.

The "spatialism" movement, founded by Lucio Fontana in 1946 and contemporary with abstract expressionism, combines different artistic trends and above all promotes the concept of capturing movement and time as the essential principles of the work. The artists who participated in this created works that demonstrate to the viewer the experience of three-dimensionality.
