An important large bronce figure of Guanyin, Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644).

The bodhisattva is shown seated in padmasana on a lotiform throne while holding a willow stem in the raised right hand and a cup in the left hand. A serene expression with partially closed eyes is framed by elongated earlobes and floral pendant earrings. Her finely detailed hair is upswept into a top knot beneath an elaborated crown with a seated figure of Amitabha Buddha on the centre. She wears long flowing robes with detailed floral motif hems and long beaded necklaces on top of the uncovered torso. The bronze base is crafted into three rows of lotus petals.
The figure conserves a patina with traces of gilding and, inside, has a layer of material from the mould used to cast the figure.
