Aquamarine plaque with tourmaline, Qing dynasty

Transparent aquamarine carved on both sides with reliefs and a ruyi-shaped profile. In the centre are the two characters '齋戒' (zhaijie) in traditional script on one side and in Manchu script on the other, surrounded by a frame of bats, Buddhist auspicious symbols and clouds. It is tied at both ends with a decorative cord, the upper side of which has a piece of oval tourmaline.
