Description.
Black lacquered wooden deep dish in the shape of a "bracket-lobed" chrysanthemum. This form has been made in metal, porcelain and lacquer for a wide variety of vessels and uses, both in the Song dynasty and later.
The molding of this dish is exceptionally crisp with foliate form from the base and undulating sides with petal silhouette. It consists of 14 lobes supporting a flattened rim with a rounded mouth, and also foliate profile. The resulting form is exceptionally beautiful, with crisp molding and harmonious proportions.
