Blue and white porcelain plate “Children in the garden”, with Wanli seal

Large enameled porcelain dish with underglaze blue and white decorations. It shows a central scene framed by a double circle, where five young children play in a beautiful garden. One flies a beautiful kite, while another is having fun with a small cat, and the remaining three play around a Go board.

The beautiful scene is surrounded, on the border, by eight medallions with geometric motifs alternating with fine flames and curled clouds. On the reverse, the border is adorned with two flowering branches of different typology, separated by a butterfly with outstretched wings. The center shows a six-character mark “大明万历年制” inscribed in a double circle.
