Description.
A moulded porcelain vessel with a quadrangular base and a short foot, on which rises a body with rounded edges and faces, ending in a slightly turned mouth. Each of the outer faces shows a five-clawed dragon with a serpentine body, covered with scales, flying through clouds and flames over a sea of raging waves. The foot, in turn, has a simple scroll decoration with a small central flower. The interior is decorated on the rim with a continuous border of ruyis and lotuses in blossom joined by a long branch. In the centre is a small branch with four flowers.
With a six-character stamp on the base ‘大明嘉靖年制’.
