Description.
On the base is a six-character rectangular seal made in the mould.
大明宣德年制 "Made in Xuande of the Ming dynasty".
It is a type of incense burner named 马槽炉 "Macáo lú" which can be translated as "manger-shaped censer". It is characterised by a rectangular body with sharp edges and two L-shaped handles attached to the shaft. Making this shape is a test of skill, more so than rounded shapes. It is supported by four angular feet at the corners. The thickness of the piece is approximately 7 mm and it is heavy.
