Press 'Program an autobid'in order to confirm
Landscape album of etching prints with copper foil on paper.
It consists of 46 sheets and a title page (cut out) that reads "ENSAYOS de Grabado al agua-fuerte por C. de Haes". It is signed "José Samper" in ink and the sheets are numbered in the same handwriting. The complete collection consisted of 54 prints including the title page. Three different editions of the copperplates are known: the first around 1860, the second after the painter's death in 1898, and the third at the beginning of the 20th century. This publication is an example of an etching treatise that was never written in Spain. The complete set is dated 1862.
The prints depict mostly landscapes and rural houses, bridges, walls, mills, roads and reefs. With the exception of a few that depict traditional types. Signed with the Haes monogram "CH".
The leaves are sewn together. Without covers. With faults.
A large part of the collection has been preserved. There are copies of these engravings in the Museo del Prado, the Biblioteca Nacional and the Museo Nacional de Cerámica y Artes Suntuarias "Gonzalez Martí" (Inv. No.: CE4/02568). There are few copies on the market.
