Description.
Carved jade pendant, brown in color with reddish, ochre and amber flecks. It is in the form of a disc or ‘Bi’, circular with a large central hole, around which are archaic representations of beasts with openwork and intertwined bodies, decorated with incised details. In good condition with reddish patina ‘沁色’ produced by age. Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220) or later.
