Carved jade figurine "cicada", Eastern Zhou dynasty

White jade carved in the shape of a cicada. It shows reliefs and engraved motifs all over the surface. The decoration is based on spirals, clouds or "ruyi" and is located mainly on the wings and base. The nose shows two holes to hold a cord, just below and between the eyes. In good condition, with slight wear and traces of red pigment.
