Carved jade figurine ‘Labrador’, Qing dynasty

A carved white jade figure. It shows a woman standing, her back curved by the weight she is carrying, and her legs in motion, as if she were walking. She holds a rounded wicker basket in one hand and a long hoe in the other, which she rests on her shoulder. On her back, she carries a bundle knotted with ribbons. She is dressed in traditional clothes; her hair is tied up in a high bun which allows her face to be fully visible, showing a serene expression.
