Carved jade fiura ‘Elder and Donkey’, Qing dynasty

Carved white jade, with a creamy hue and a smooth finish punctuated by subtle gold flecks. It depicts an image of an old man riding a donkey, holding on by thin rope reins. All of this is set in a small landscape of craggy rocks, from which a flowering tree emerges. The hand carving is of great quality, which can be seen in the meticulousness of the details, openwork and in relief. The figure is placed on a carved wooden base, decorated with vegetal elements of branches and rocks.
