Description.

A white jade figure with reliefs, carved on several levels, on both sides and circular. The reliefs depict mountainous landscapes with clouds, waves and trees. They show different compositions and, inside, temples or pagodas and figures. An adult man, a sage or teacher, is shown with one or two children. The figure is supported by a wooden base carved with floral elements. It is in good condition, with wear and patina due to age. Jade panels were popular in the Qing dynasty, usually inserted into wooden seats. 

Provenance: European private collection, France. Acquired by the present owner in 1981 in Toulouse from the private collection of Mr Gerard Pasquier. A period photograph is shown.
