Description.
An elegant one-piece jadeite carving of a faint light shade with greenish flecks of increasing and decreasing intensity. It is in the shape of a ‘Hulu’ gourd, decorated on both sides with fine relief and openwork details of large bats and curled gourd branches with fruit and leaves, framing four medallions with characters arranged vertically, one at the top and one at the bottom.
It is set on a carved wooden base made to size, with openwork floral elements and archaic patterns in relief. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
