Description.
White jade carved in the shape of a cicada. Around the surface it shows the elements of the cicada: broad wings, eyes and grooves, which are beautifully depicted in relief. The decoration is based on spirals or 'ruyi'. The nose shows two holes for attaching a cord, just below and between the eyes. In good condition, with light wear.
Provenance: Important collection of Tommy Lam, Hong Kong, from 1980.
