Description.
A carved celadon-green jade Buddha with traces of gilding. The figure of the Buddha is depicted seated in a 'dhyanasana' posture with both hands in a meditation mudra, holding a bowl with palms upwards. The robe or "dhoti" falls to the front in folds, and a cord is tied around the waist. The face has a peaceful, enlightened expression between his two droopy-lobed ears. The shoulders are robust and the hair is held in a high headdress with tight curls.
Height: 14.80 cm; Weight: 742 g
Provenance: European private collection.
