Description.
This type of cup is characterised by being carved from a single piece, using rich materials of animal origin such as ivory or rhinoceros horn, to which sacred symbolism is attributed.
Later, they were made of wood, bamboo or jade for ornamental purposes. The shape is always wider at the top and richly decorated with floral, vegetal or allegorical elements. Libation cups have long been used by imperial royalty and were later in demand by collectors.
