Chinese painting ‘Lady at Rest’ with Chen Mei signature, Qing dynasty

Pigments, watercolour and ink on paper, with silk frame. It shows a young noblewoman, seated on a porch of traditional Chinese architecture on a beautiful bamboo seat. With her body tilted towards the viewer, she gazes at the landscape with lilies and a small white cat in hiding. She is dressed in a long dress covered by a flowing blue and green robe. Her face is sweet and gentle, and her hair is tied back and adorned with small traditional ornaments. 

On the left side is a long poem signed ‘粱诗正’; on the lower right side, the artist's signature ‘陈枚’ is shown along with two seals.
