Chinese painting "Palace Ladies", Qing dynasty

Pigments and ink on paper, with brocade frame. It depicts a scene where two elegant ladies in elaborate dresses are seated in front of a chessboard, playing "Go" while a younger lady watches them. To one side and beneath a poem is a table with treasures and a 'Gu'-type vase with flowers. The palace where they meet is in a garden inside the palace. The writing is sealed "金城" (Jincheng) an artist of the late Qing dynasty.
