Chinese silk painting “Quail”, Qing dynasty

Ink and pigments on silk, with brocade frame. It shows a beautiful quail with rich plumage arranged on its back, with its head turned to the left, as if observing something happening beyond the painting. It is set against a simple landscape of ochre tones and earthen ground, from which light plants and thin bamboo branches emerge. 

With a stamp in the form of a “hulu” in the upper left corner and two on the lower right side.
