Doucai “Flowers and Birds” bowl, Qing Dynasty

Beautiful “Doucai” porcelain bowl with white background and decorations in underglaze blue and overglaze colored enamels. It has a circular base and a narrow and short foot, on which stands the body with a rounded profile, widening towards the mouth with a slightly turned rim. Both the foot and the profile of the mouth (external and internal) are decorated with a double blue line, thus framing the continuous scene that decorates the outside of the piece, which shows a beautiful landscape full of nature, with winding branches of flowering trees, leaves, steep rocks, large peonies and delicate birds. Inside the bowl, inscribed in a double blue circle, is an auspicious symbol flanked by five outstretched-winged bats.
With a six-character seal on the base in underglaze blue “大清光绪年制”.
