Catalogue note:

Enrique Pertegás Ferrer, was a Valencian painter trained at the renowned Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Carlos, where he was awarded the Premio extraordinario del Ayuntamiento de Valencia at the end of his studies and whose work is currently in the archives of that institution.

Since then he has had a prolific career in various artistic fields as a poster designer, set designer, illustrator for bibliographic publishers and film productions, and cartoonist for renowned newspapers and magazines such as ‘Las Provincias’, ‘La Voz de Valencia’, ‘El Clarín’, ‘El Fallero’ and ‘La Traca’, where he collaborated during the Second Republic under the pseudonym Marqués de Sade (among others).

His extensive work stands out for its meticulous biological study, mainly through the nude, which he reproduced on numerous occasions using different techniques, in a turbulent period when the socio-political situation was not in accordance with this theme, thus demonstrating his revolutionary character, which he also expressed with many works in a protest style with a great social conscience.

Thanks to the hard work of his family to make the work of his ancestor prevail, today we have not only an extensive photographic archive that reflects the career, methodology and history of the Valencian artist, but also a large unpublished collection of works that Darley Auctions is honoured to present in this catalogue.

There are no records with that terms of search.
