Description.
Gilt and polychrome bronze. The figure stands on a lotus pedestal, dressed in elegant robes, wearing a crown of skulls with a tall headdress and elaborate jewellery. He assumes a menacing pose with his hands holding Buddhist instruments. He represents the deity with the Sanskrit name "Yamäntaka" (大威德金剛) of Tantric Buddhism. Because he can subdue demons, he has the power to protect the good.
