White jade figure from Hetian, with slight reddish stains. It shows the deity standing, accompanied by the small “Shancai” arranged to her left, leaning towards her as if sheltering in the deity. She is attired in long robes, and he, in traditional robes with a small ribbon over his shoulders; the fabrics flutter masterfully as if moved by the wind.
The expression is one of complete serenity, with closed eyes and a slightly smiling mouth. Her hands, arranged together at belly level, hold a long beaded mala that descends almost to her bare feet. Her hair is tied up in a high bun and covered by a veil, allowing a full view of her kind face.
The figure stands on a wooden base carved in the shape of a raging sea.
