Description.
Archer's ring (板指) of carved Hetian white jade. The shape is smooth, with slightly rounded top edge and undecorated exterior.
It is accompanied by an embroidered cloth pouch and a small wooden box of circular plan, with decorations arranged as a border, depicting birds and characters on a background covered with interlacing scrolls.
This type of ring is placed on the pulling finger (thumb of the right hand) when practicing archery. Over time they have become more decorative than functional. They were popular during the Qing dynasty, especially during the Qianlong reign.
