Description.
A jade pendant in the shape of a 'bi' with carved openwork motifs and decorative elements engraved on both sides. The shape is flat and circular with a hole in the centre. It depicts a border with archaic 'taotie' beasts and geometric shapes running around the disc between lines decorated with lattice and interlacing motifs that also show engravings. "Bi" discs are a ceremonial form originating from the Neolithic period. In good condition with reddish patina "沁色" (qìn sè) produced by antiquity.
