Description.
A white jade figure in the form of a monkey with her young. The mother sits embracing one of her offspring while another is held between her back and forehead. The colour of the Hetian white jade and the marvellous carving, which depicts the details of the figures very naturally, are outstanding. It is in very good condition.
In Chinese culture, monkeys, and a group of them, represent longevity and good luck that is passed down from generation to generation. The concept "代代封侯" (blessings for longevity) describes it. Generations of descendants are a gift in traditional Chinese culture.
