Japanese Imari ‘Cranes’ porcelain dish, 20th century

A large porcelain dish with coloured enamel decoration. The centre of the plate depicts a scene of two stylised cranes resting at sunset on a calm lake, next to elongated bamboo branches and small flowers. The lobed border alternates geometric patterns with flowers, with elongated cartouches of small winged birds stretched out on curled clouds.
