José Luis Cuevas Novelo (Mexico City, 1934 - 2017) was a Mexican painter, draftsman, writer, engraver, sculptor and illustrator. Known as the “enfant terrible” of painting in Mexico, he was also nicknamed “Gato Macho” (Male Cat).
