Porcelain bowl with a mouth, glazed in blue-gray color. The glaze covering the piece is shiny, with small bubbles, some brown impurities and a sporadic crackle in the form of shallow flakes. The glaze layer near the edges is thinner and has atifle marks at the base. The Jun 钧窑 kiln reached its peak in the Song period and was located in the town of Yuzhou in Henan Province.
The shape is originally derived from the ancient bronze "Yi" prototypes whose vessel had a gourd-like shape cut in half, an opening, a mouth with a handle and a foot. The main function was to temporarily contain liquids for later pouring. In ancient times, while offering sacrifices to ancestors or entertaining guests, people were expected to wash their hands to show their respect.
The piece is in perfect condition with no breakage or restoration.
