Description.

Glazed porcelain with a deep yellow glaze. On a narrow base is a large body with a flaring profile and a circular base without a neck, which expands towards the rim, which is slightly bent outwards. Five characters ‘坤宁宫祭器’ are inscribed in black. On the base, arranged in the centre, are six characters ‘大清宣统年制’ along with old labels from their previous provenance.

The inscription on the inside of the vessel refers to the Palace of Earthly Tranquillity, also known as Kunning Palace, built in the Wanli era of the Ming dynasty and later rebuilt during the early Qing dynasty. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) 19th century.
