Description.
A tripod censer with a cylindrical body decorated with a "弦纹" string pattern. This type of decorative pattern comes from ancient Chinese ceramics and bronze wares. It is glazed all over the body in a celadon-green colour, with small impurities, and which is lighter at the ends. The rim is wide and extends inwards. Three pointed feet are attached to the base and a circle with an unglazed rim protrudes from the centre, revealing the pottery. In very good condition with patina.
Provenance: European private collection, France. Acquired by the present owner in 1981 in Toulouse from the private collection of Mr Gerard Pasquier. A photograph of the period is shown.
