"Moonflask" jade vase with lid, Qing dynasty.

Vase with a celadon-green carved jade lid. The shape is that of a "moonflask" with a conical foot and two openwork spiral-shaped handles between the shoulders and the neck. At the top sits a domed lid with a handle as a crest. The inside is hollow and the delicacy of the carving is remarkable, as the thickness of the jade is quite thin. On the outside surface there is a main scene with two wise monks with branches, clouds and bats in low relief.
