Description.
A pair of porcelain vases with underglaze decoration in blue and white. It has a circular mouth with a curved profile that narrows to form an elongated neck and widens at the shoulders. The slightly curved body rests on a circular foot.
The ceramic is richly decorated under the glaze with a blue background with fine white lines that form geometric shapes and beautiful overlapping plum blossoms. On both the front and back sides are two scenes inscribed in a lobed frame, depicting what is known as ‘Bogu Hua’ or ‘博古图’. A type of miscellaneous painting depicting decorative elements of Chinese tradition such as ceramics, bronzes or paintings.
