Description.
Pair of boxes made in light greenish white jade "青白玉" from Hetian, with gilded silver chains. The shape is a peach, and it is exceptional that a pair is preserved, signifying double abundance. The chains are attached by hooks to the jade and in the centre there is a clasp. It is possible to open them and they used to keep small objects inside. The carving is very fine. The tonality and transparency are excellent, with soft veins, and it retains its shine. It is in very good condition.
Provenance: Important collection of Tommy Lam, Hong Kong, since 1980.
Size: 7 x 4,5 x 9 cm; Weight: 172 g; Length of chain: 15 cm
