Description.
Pair of jade figures in the form of a free-standing animal. The bear is standing on two legs, tail between the paws, upper limbs over the hips, chest puffed out, mouth ajar and head facing forward. The beard meets his shoulder and shows engraved details. In general there is a great quality in the carving. In good condition with patina.
In Han times bears were present in the mountains and forests, so it was common to see them represented in the trousseaus. In the national census of cultural relics, a large number of bear-related figures were found. In the Han Dynasty they are found in various materials, in different moods and are vivid representations.
