Description.
A white jade piece, with reddish-gold flecks. It is carved in a trapezoid shape and decorated in low relief on each side with "taotie" masks and scrolls. The piece is flat on the underside and engraved with geometric shapes. The original use for this piece is as part of a sword 劍(珌). At the top it shows a hole and a cord (later). In good condition with patina.
Provenance: Important collection of Tommy Lam, Hong Kong, from 1980.
