Description.

Representation of the Buddha Amitabha. It shows the deity following the aesthetic models of the Qing dynasty, in a seated position, with his legs crossed in ‘bhumisparsha mudra’ on a beautiful lotus throne. The expression is serene, with narrowed eyes, close-set lips, broad nose and long ears framing the face, crowned by luxuriant curly hair in a high bun. The body, covered by a long robe, is erect, with both arms bent, with the right hand in ‘Chin mudra’ and the left hand slightly closed, with the palm facing the sky. Traces of gilding can be seen on an intense red polychrome that covers the surface, with the exception of the deep black hair. It shows wear due to age. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
