Description.
Polychrome glazed porcelain Buddha with underglaze and overglaze decorations. It shows the figure of Buddha on a pedestal, with his legs crossed in a lotus position and his hands in the "Varada Mudra" position holding a small rat and a pearl on them. The expression is serene, with eyes open and mouth closed. His body is covered by a long, fine tunic made up of various fabrics and geometric, floral and phoenix bird decorations on ruyi clouds. The stepped, hourglass-shaped pedestal displays a central image of a lotus flower. At the base it has a seal that indicates "魏洪泰造". Wei Hongtai. Period of the Republic (1912-1949).
