Porcelain enamelled "abstinence" plate, 20th century

A pumpkin-shaped plate, enamelled on the outside and decorated with relief elements on both sides. Some of the relief details are covered in gilding, which is slightly worn. The circular cartouches contain the characters 'zhaijie' in gilding, meaning abstinence. A decorative cord runs along the length of the cartouche. The reverse is similarly decorated with the inscription inscribed in Manchu.
