Wang Bu (1898-1968) was an artist from Jiangxi province specializing in blue and white porcelain. He worked in Jingdezhen from 1907 until his death in 1968 and was engaged in ceramic painting for about 60 years. Throughout his career he perfected his technique until it became unique and novel. This painting was made in the 中华民国 (Mínguó) or Republic of China period. It was during this period that the heyday of Wang Bu's painting culminated. From 1954 he was part of the Institute of Ceramics (陶瓷研究所), which recognized him as a great artist.
