Robert 'Mousey' Thompson (1876 - 1955) was a great master carpenter who was born in Kilburn in North Yorkshire. He came from a family of carpenters and stonemasons. He ran his own workshop and produced his unique designs inspired by the British medieval style. He used traditional tools and assembled his furniture using traditional techniques, which gave his furniture a distinctive look compared to other contemporary furniture. In addition, his hallmark or artist's mark is an embossed field mouse. This mark is on all of his pieces.
