Chestnut wood, carved with geometric decoration in relief.
The boot is made from assembled boards, in a structure of beams and uprights, with a hinged top lid. The lid is slightly warped and is held in place by iron fittings and a lock in the centre. The carvings are arranged in three registers, the lower and upper ones with mouldings, and the central one with five vertical panels, the same as on the side faces but with less decoration. The style is Baroque in its structure and decoration. This type of chest, known as a "kutxa", was widespread in the Basque Country and was used until well into the 20th century. The chair has carved decoration on the crossbeams and turned decoration on the front legs.
Chest size: 69 x 55 x 135 cm; Chair size: 96 x 38 x 42 cm
