Description.

Set of twelve small carved Hetian jade figures, of ocher tonality with beautiful reddish stains arranged on a carved wooden base divided into three levels of different heights.

The sculptural ensemble shows, with mastery, a representation of humanoid character of the twelve signs of the zodiac “十二生肖”, which are represented as monks, dressed in long robes and carrying representative elements in their hands. They are arranged seated, with solemn posture and bent knees, some of them in lotus position, with their hands generally extended on their laps. These anthropomorphic beings show animal faces, as the twelve signs of the zodiac are represented: ox, rat, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. 

Jade size: 6.2 x 2.5 x 4 cm (approx, depending on the piece).
