Set of twelve blue and white porcelain mugs, 20th century

A series of twelve porcelain cups representing the ‘monthly flowers’ in underglaze blue. The scene on each piece begins at the foot and extends along the body to form a beautiful landscape. On the back are ancient poems that speak of the properties of these flowers. 

On the base is inscribed in a double circle the seal ‘大清康熙年製 尺寸’.

The ‘twelve months’ flower cups are characterized by depicting twelve branches of various flowers: winter jasmine, apricot, peach, peony, peony, pomegranate, lotus, orchid, sweet osmanthus, chrysanthemum, Chinese rose, plum and daffodil.
