Shousan stamp ‘Mythical beast, 白石’, 20th century

A carved Shousan stone seal, amber-toned with subtle reddish and ochre flecks. It has a quadrangular base, adorned with inscriptions that read ‘戊戌九月白石自刻’. In the upper area there is an image of a beast, with sturdy outstretched legs, a curled tail and a tilted head with open jaws showing its sharp fangs.
