Shoushan ‘Mythical Beast’ stamp, 20th century

Rich amber-coloured carved stone. It has a short rectangular base, on which rests a large mythical beast of ferocious appearance, with a broad body and bent legs facing forward, with piercing eyes, a wide snout and a half-open maw that reveals its sharp teeth. On one side is a short incised poem and at the base is a four-character seal in bas-relief.
