Shoushan stone ‘Elephant’ seal, Qing dynasty

A Shoushang stone seal of greenish hue with amber flecks. It has an elongated, rectangular body on which a beautiful elephant is depicted in relief. The elephant is shown standing with its head slightly inclined, its tail close to its body, and its long trunk curled up. On the front face there is an incised poem, as well as the seal on the base.
