Description.
Carved stone of an intense reddish-orange colour. It has a broad rectangular base, with slightly rounded edges and corners, decorated on one side with a short incised poem. On the upper part is the free-standing image of a large lioness, with open jaws, a luxuriant mane and sharp claws and fangs. On her, climbing around her back, are seven small cubs seeking refuge from their mother. The seal, with incised characters and traces of red wax, is shown on the base. Shows age wear. With a box to size. Qing Dynasty (1612-1944) or later.
